**We are thrilled to announce that the Penan Women Project has won the 9th Sarawak Hornbill Tourism Awards for Best Community-Based Tourism Initiative (2019-2023)!** ![]()
Founded in late 2015, the Penan Women Project aims to empower Penan women in Ulu Baram by preserving their rich cultural heritage and promoting traditional craftsmanship while providing sustainable income for the Penan artisans to look after their own livelyhoods. Our approach combines innovative techniques with traditional skills, enabling us to create unique Penan woven products that resonate with a modern audience.
This recognition highlights the hard work and dedication of the Penan women, our team, and the individuals, local businesses, government agencies, and corporations that have supported this initiative. Penan woven products have become one of the top-selling souvenirs from Sarawak, bringing joy to our visitors while providing essential support to our rural community.
A heartfelt thank you to the Sarawak Hornbill Tourism Awards committee for this incredible honor! Your support inspires us to continue our mission of empowering the Penan community and showcasing the beauty of our culture.
Together, letβs create meaningful experiences and strengthen the vibrant tourism industry of Sarawak!
Jian Kenin to everyone!
